SAM'S BADMINTON ARENA (SBA) LOCATED IN AUSTRALIA, IS A NEW ENDEAVOR TO COMMEMORATE AND HONOUR THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF REV. DR. P. K. SAM.

We are a Brisbane based indoor sports hub consisting of six badminton courts in an arena that measures up to 800 square meters. Sam's Badminton Arena was not born solely for the purpose of doing business, but also for the intent to promote the sport in the community and to provide the best facilities and services to both its members and casual players.

The club is owned and run by Mr. Stephen Koshy, who is a Physical Education Teacher, and holds a Master’s and an M. Phil degree in Physical Education and an accredited coach with Badminton Australia. With over 21 years’ experience in coaching, teaching, and managing various sporting events, Stephen has used his skills and experience to build a large badminton facility to train talented players and enable them to participate in major tournaments. He has been training more than 40 school students aged between 7- 18 years by hiring school halls to unite students from different communities during weekends for the past 5 years. His two sons Ephraim and Emmanuel, aged 15 and 13 respectively (in 2020), represented Queensland state in the "Under-15 Nationals" in 2018 and 2019. With limited availability of Badminton courts in the North of Brisbane, Stephen had to travel long distances to the South of Brisbane for training his boys in Badminton. Considering his sons and many such aspiring young talented players in the community, Stephen decided to start a badminton center in the North of Brisbane not only to encourage the sport, but also for the development of badminton among all other communities. The establishment of Sam's Badminton has been his lifelong dream and is a result of his passion for the sport encouraged and inspired by his late father, Rev. Dr. P. K. Sam, his brothers, Dr. Samson Sam and Benson Sam and his sister, Sharon George, who were all professional athletes.

About Rev. Dr. P. K. Sam

Rev. Dr. P. K. Sam, born on May 7th, 1930, was a well-known evangelist, singer, poet, composer, and author. He was especially noted for the love and warmth he showed towards the poor and charitable works which included giving land and houses for those in need. He graduated from Malone College in Ohio with a B.A. in Religion, a minor in Psychology, and a M.A. in Sociology from Tennessee University. Whilst working as an Assistant Dean and a Pastor at Malone College, he felt God's calling to return to India to minister among his own people. He founded Bible Christian Church (B.C.C.) consisting of 25 churches, started a Bible College, built a hospital for the needy, ministered in hospitals, colleges, schools, and jails. He wrote several books, started a radio ministry, and penned over 350 songs. People loved his dynamic, insightful, and bold style of preaching, especially when he included humorous stories and always focused on the importance of a relationship with God. He served as the Y.M.C.A president and received many awards for his charitable work, commitment, and excellence. When he passed away on Nov. 23rd, 2017, he had completed 46 years of Pastoral ministry. He left a lasting legacy of love, inspiration and brought thousands to Christ.
